Peace and Security

Safety and security are vital constructs for any productive society.  Every year, for the last 15 years, the Institute for Economics and Peace, a global think tank dedicated to developing metrics to analyze peace and to quantify its economic benefits, issues its annual Global Peace Index.  The ratings calculated are derived from a number of factors that include crime rate, education and welfare, militarization, and overall prosperity among.  In 2023, Iceland ranked #1 among all nations analyzed in the index, a position that it has held since the inception of the ratings system in 2008.
